Coverage
While Virginia Mason puts the life of her father in her own words throughout the book, she includes many valuable first hand correspondence of James Murray himself. We can see by her defense of the Trent Affair that she feels her father was treated unfairly in some aspects, but she does not hide the harsh critics he received while working for the Confederacy.
